2019 Flying Season: What You Need To Know

We would like to start this very important update by first saying thank you. Thank you to everyone who has helped Flystyle over the years, thank you to our mentors, and thank you to our flying friends. Each and every one of you make the world a better place, and we are happy to be sharing this planet with you.

We look forward to flying with you this season.

Here are the important Flystyle updates for the 2019 Flying Season:

Please welcome Wes Coughlin to the Flystyle team.
Wes is a talented filmmaker who joined the world of air sports back in 2014 when he learned to skydive at Skydive Kapowsin. After that, he started paragliding in 2015, and in 2017 he began BASE jumping. Wes is the new Business Manager of Flystyle and will be here to assist you with any questions you may have at wes@fly.style

New Online Store
We added a new way for our students and friends to shop for great gear. We believe that it's been difficult in the past to get the gear that's right for you. With so many different products on the market, it can be overwhelming to research what is available. Our diverse lineup of new gliders for 2019 is really exciting, along with all the new harnesses, and accessories. We hope that our online store can help people more easily find the right gear that works for them.

The online store does not mean we will be selling wings to everyone and anyone. Every wing sold will have to be either to a customer who we personally know, or the customer will have to provide adequate information about their level of flying via USHPA memberships or mentorship background checking.

New Lesson Plans
We hear it all the time from new students: “Learning to fly is very expensive. How do I know that it is right for me?” So we decided to create a new course, called the “Advanced Solo Flight Course”, which will provide students the opportunity to learn the basics of solo flight without having to go all in for their P2 rating and gear. This course is similar to a skydive AFF course. If a student wishes to proceed to their P2 training after their ASF course, then part of that course price will be credited to their P2 training. For example, a student would spend $1,300 on an ASF course (gear provided), and $1,500 after that for their remaining P2 (gear purchase required).

If you are reading this and seriously want to learn to fly, you can still save money by purchasing your P2 and gear all in one. We have some gear packages available. You should also consider signing up for lessons sooner rather than later, because having a full season for learning is the best way to develop your flying skills before winter sets in and you are no longer current.

New Financing Available
Again, to make it easier for both new students and existing pilots to make big purchases, we have found a new solution to offer 0% APR financing for 6 months. It’s called Affirm, and it's seamlessly integrated into our webstore. It’s basically like a virtual credit card. A credit check is required, and Affirm will offer you a limit on what you can spend, but it can go up to $15,000.

Priorities For This Season
We are going to continue to focus and improve on the following:

  • Lessons & Safety
  • Positive relations with all members of the flying community
  • Timely and professional service to our customers
  • Develop new relationships with new pilots, existing pilots, distributors, and manufacturers.
  • Have fun and give back

That's it! No more big updates.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this. We look forward to having a great season with you. Please email us if you have any questions.
